MRC Email - [POST by ADMIN]

The MRC, or Mountain Radio Challenge,
started around 1980. The idea was to see what distance could be achieved, on 27MHz, using ground wave. Anyone could talk skip interstate or overseas, but to talk long distance without skip was a challenge. Originating from CBers in the North Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, they would find mountains to camp on for the night, and see what distances that could be achieved.

Hello All, There are now less than 3 months until MRC2009 (Nov 28th). The website (www.mrc.cat.net.au) has seen some activity recently, so has the Yahoo group (http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/mtradiochallenge/join) , and we currently have 16 groups who have registered their intent to participate.

We are still looking for participants, especially in central NSW to link with our 2 North East NSW groups.

Several members have also been discussing the MRC on eQSO, Skype, PalTalk and Windows Live (MSN). If you'd like to talk more to other members, can i suggest you get involved in the Yahoo forum as a start, or let me know and I can pass on contact details. If you want to know more about these methods, feel free to ask me. I’m generally active on Friday nights on one or more of these, and also getting my UHF setup on air again (probably Ch 26)

If you'd like to participate in the MRC this year, please have a look at the website for existing station locations, and advise me via email, of your location preferences.

Please advise if you would like to be removed from my list, or have a more appropriate email address. Also let me know if you know of other people, or groups, who might be interested.

Thanks
Tony
