I JUST HOOKED UP MY OLD SBE SIDEBAND BASE UNIT AFTER MANY YEARS. I HAVE A OLD STAND-BY ANTENNA, WHICH IS NEW JUST NEVER USED. I CANNOT RECIEVE ANYBODY ON IT. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN. TELEVISIONS HAVE GONE TO DIGITAL. DID CB RADIO'S ALSO GO TO A DIGITAL SIGNAL? EXPLAINING WHY I CANNOT RECIEVE ANYBODY OR IS THERE JUST SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY RADIO OR ANTENNA?

Great old radio, I have 2 of the Base consoles and a few mobiles.

Looks like you may have a problem with the radio or antenna as CB 27Mhz AM/SSB is still alive and kicking.
But only just.... DX is fairly dead but picking up.
Just heard today a station in Melbourne getting thru to USA and some interstate from Sth Aust into Victoria.

So get that setup going as the skip is coming!

Do you get any noise from the speaker at all?
If yes, do you get any static or rf noise which means the RX is ok?
If not maybe the radio has some problem -dry solder joints in SBE are common.
Most of mine still work ok though both bases have problems which should not be too hard to fix.

If you can get static then it just means no-one is transmitting near you that you can hear.

Let us know what happens as I have circuit diags for the SBE Base.
